| Since I was staying at an 'approved' hotel for more than two nights, I received a pass that provided me with free transportation on all local trains, buses, and lifts. Switzerland is expensive to begin with, so this was quite a cost-saving bonus! |
The bus routes overlapped, so there were different buses one could take to get to the same place. And some of the buses would get to the end of their route, then retrace it in reverse. So I found navigating the system to be a bit of a challenge. |

It was a bit disconcerting that the other train/lift approached on the single track as we were descending it, but the carriages passed at a split in the track. Presumably the two opposed carriages travel on the same cable; the descending one helps pull the ascending one up - and they are always synchronized for the split-track passing. |
