September 7 - Lift to Col Dei Baldi. Hike to Rif. Coldai and Toward Rif. Tissi.

I caught the crowded bus from Falcade to Cencenighe, hoping to make the short connection to a bus to Alleghe. But the bus from Falcade was slowed by the large number of boarding passengers and I missed the tight connection.

So I was idled in Cencenighe for an hour to wait for the next bus, with a large number of other Falcade passengers who intended the bus connection to Alleghe and points north.

Upon arriving in Alleghe, I walked to my hotel to find a note, in Italian, on the door, saying it was closed and directing me to a pastry shop nearby. The pastry shop was ready for me and checked me into an austere room downstairs. I organized and walked quickly to the lift to belatedly start a hike on the Civetta.

From this angle, the Pelmo did not resemble a saddle, as it had when viewed from Passo San Pellegrino.

From the lift, I set off toward Rif. Coldai. I'd hoped to make it farther, to Rif. Tissi, but given my delayed start, Rif. Coldai seemed the more prudent destination.

The terrain was steep, but the well engineered AV1 was generously adorned with switchbacks to ease the ascent (and descent).
