In 2015, when I hiked this route in the other direction, I made the mistake of failing to bear left here, not seeing the painted rock indicating 'Porta Vescovo'. I continued down the 601 and had to correct my route with a fairly steep ascent across rocks and grazing land to acheive Porta Vescovo.

On my way, the bus stopped outside the office of Holimites, the trekking company that had arranged my Dolomites trek with Jen in 2012. Jen had used Holimites 3 weeks before (now, in 2016), to arrange an ambitious bicycle agenda. And when Jen had been there, the Holimites office was not in a construction zone...
