After traveling from Munich to Dobbiaco by train and meeting my friend Jen there the day before, we now planned to begin our hiking itinerary with a traverse past the magnificent Tre Cime. |

We hiked a splendid scenic traverse north away from the Tre Cime. Eventually the route led down to a broad floodplain and Rifugio Deschutes, where we enjoyed a beer. |

We enjoyed a nice beer at the refugio, then we discovered that the bus did not come all the way up to the rifugio, so we set out for another 20 minutes of walking to the bus stop. |

This magnificent pass offered breathtaking views. We had thought we might continue up to the Croda del Becco (also called Seekofel), the high point in this view. But we did not attempt it. Instead, we descended to Rif. Biella and continued on our intended loop. |
