On St Patrick's Day (2022), I went to the Gardner Ale House for an evening of music and friends. An artist had her work on display. I was charmed by her painting of a bunny rabbit. It was fairly large, at about 15" X 20". I was pleased to buy it, for a reasonable $85, and I took it home to mount prominently on my kitchen wall.
For some reason, the bunny painting reminded me of an old framed print a friend named Joshua used to have. I thought the cat print was excellent and took a picture of it in 1978.
Reminded of the cat print, I got on the Internet to see if I could find a copy of it or any information about it. I was surprised and amazed to find a similar, but not identical, painting for sale. I bought it.
The 1978 print photo and the painting from eBay enabled the creation of my 'Wonderful Wall of Furious Felines'.
My 'Wonderful Wall ...' made me think of an old t-shirt: 'A Cat vs a Vegamatic' in my collection. My friend Cedwyn has an old friend who used to make clever t-shirts. Sadly, they have been out-of-print for many years. I was able to find the worn-out tee.
I thought I was finished considering unhappy cats. But then my friend Amy sent along some photos from a book on 'Cat First Aid' that she ran across at a tag sale. Although (I presume) no actual cats were harmed in the development of my preceding image roster, I thought my fanciful depictions of stressed cats were sufficiently harsh on our feline friends. But I do have to consider the actual torture involved in posing cats for the 'Cat First Aid' book. I have to wonder what retaliations ensued when the demonstration cat no longer had his head wrapped or his paws bandaged together...
